How will we know if it's a boy or a girl?

That's the question S asked me first thing this morning. A very valid question given we have decided not to find out the gender of our baby.

But what do I tell her???

This is hilarious. We just had a similar case, almost eerie how similar. The little girl asked our doctor the same question. The parents were frazzled, and didn't want to know the gender of the baby...so they just stared, not sure how to reply. Our doctor replied simply, "We will know when the baby comes. But how we will know before that is by using a special remote that is like a camera. We put that over your mommy's tummy. The remote then tells us if it's a boy or girl." The girl then asked, "can we find out now?" The doctor then replied, "yes, we can but isn't cooler if we just make it a huge surprise for EVERYONE? Isn't that more fun? Then you can go shopping for your brother or sister after they are born, because they can't wait to see you and go shopping with you too! Big sisters are always special no matter what because they always take care of their baby. You'll take care of the baby, right?" The little girl couldn't help but bobble her head up and down. "Yes, and I'll give the baby a pink shirt that says, I love my Big Sister." (The little girl was about 5 and was clearly a shopaholic-type of girl.) Not sure if this was useful, but the little girl seemed convinced. Hope it helps :)
